WiT (Women in Turing) began as a committee of the AAW (American Association of Woodturners) in 2015.  The purpose of the committee is to encourage and assist women in their pursuit of woodturning by sharing ideas and processes to further member’s skill and creativity.  Since its inception, the committee has undertaken several activities to further its goals.  Currently, many AAW chapters have WiT liaisons.  Any AAW member can be a WiT liaison, but in most chapters, this is an appointed or elected position.  The primary task of a liaison is to welcome newcomers and encourage them to become chapter and AAW members.  Many liaisons send out announcements of woodturning events that may be of particular interest to women turners.  Some liaisons coordinate local events and classes, many specifically designed around the WiT goals.

Please join us for an informal gathering on March 15th during the lunch break at Noon. This will be a meeting to introduce yourself to other women turners and share ideas of how your chapter is or can encourage other women in turning.  Grab your lunch before the meeting.  We’d like to see our numbers exceed the less than 9% where it sits nationally!

Unfortunately, there can be no refunds for banquet tickets included in the Registration fee.

We don't know who that is.  Get involved with a member club so you can have input for the next symposium.

Woodturning instructors are frequently involved in teaching many classes around the country and sometimes schedules conflict.  We also try to invite different presenters each year so our registrants have a variety of demonstrations to attend.  With the many fine teachers available, we are not able to include every demonstrator or include every subject each year.

We don’t often know when a class will be popular.  We give the demonstrators a chance to repeat a class or two, depending on our rotation schedule and how many rotations they will be teaching.  Since we must finalize the schedule before we meet, we are not able to change and accommodate popular classes into repeats at the last moment.

There is ample free parking conveniently located next to the Expo Center.

Yes, lunch is included with registration.  Additional lunch tickets are available for $25/each and must be purchased prior to the Symposium via our online Registration page. Additionaly, there are several nearby restaurants if you prefer to explore dining options off-site, including Cascade Grill.
